Residential Care Homes

Also called adult family homes, board and care homes, or adult foster care, residential care homes are best known for their small size and home-like setting. They are often a more cost-effective option and are best for those who may be overwhelmed at a larger community such as assisted living or memory care.

Features:

  • Personal care (bathing, dressing, grooming)
  • Medication reminders and management
  • Toileting assistance, if needed
  • Restaurant-style dining
  • Life enrichment programs
  • Transportation services
  • Wellness programs
  • Caregiver on-site 24/7

There are two primary home Care options for Seniors living in their home.  Seniors in need of help with household tasks such as cooking, cleaning or running errands may consider Homemaker Services.  Seniors who need additional help with personal care or assistance with Activities of Daily Living such as bathing, getting dressed or support in the bathroom can recruit Home Health Aid Services where a Home Health Aide who is medically certified visits the older adult in their home to assist with these care tasks. Residential Care is a great option for seniors who are not quite ready to make the transition into Assisted Living or Nursing Home Care.

Home Care

As you age, you may find that it becomes increasingly more challenging to keep up with all the tasks that come with living in your own home.  For instance, you may see that to go to the grocery store, to manage all your bills, or to keep up with the house or yard work is a struggle.  Hiring homemaker services is an excellent option to handle your homemaking needs in the interim as you plan your move to a care home.

Most older adults have expressed the desire to age in their own home.  To do this independently can sometimes be difficult particularly people who need assistance in their daily living or who are living on their own.  Isolation is a severe risk to individuals who choose to age in place at home.  Home Health Aides or Home Makers offer the ideal solution as they provide companionship and care all within your own home.

Home Health Care is also an excellent option for seniors who may not be prepared to make the transition into senior living.  The home signifies independence and is filled with beautiful memories and sentimental tokens of the life we have led. These become significant considerations for individuals in search for senior care. While individuals grapple with these emotions home Care becomes a good option for seniors who are hesitant to downsize or make a big move, but who are no longer able to live at home independently.

Senior Living Specialist understands how much staying in your home means to you. They are the most experienced placement team in the Sherman Area and offer all of their services for free so that you can focus on your care needs and finding the homemaker services or home health aide services that will allow you to remain in your own home. Plus, when you are ready to make the transition to a Senior living option, they are more than happy and able to assist with the process for you and can even help you find professional downsizers and movers to make the transition that much easier.
